My Shopping Trip - Week of 1/25/09

This was a stock up week for me.

I picked up the Kashi Bars here instead of Rite Aid (which would have been $0.25 per box cheaper) because our store normally don't have them. I wanted to make sure I got them while the coupons were still good. There was a Lunchable too but my fiance and son were heading out the door and he took it with him.
Total OOP: $9.80 -- Saved $25.04

We went the afternoon the snow and sleet started (Tuesday). The one thing I like most about our Kroger's store - they do an excellent job keep the shelves stocked and restocked during bad weather. I went for their Mega Mix & Match sale. When I found it was going to be a two week sale, I decided to put it off a week since we really did NEED anything. It gave me time to use up some of the other items in our cabinets and freezer to make room for these items. Some of the items will be used on our Super Bowl menu (which will be up soon).
Total OOP: $35.23 -- saved $85.41

This was another stock up stop.
Total OOP: $18.25 -- saved $29.93

Rite Aid
I couldn't pass up the $3.99 cat/kitten food. This is the cats fave! Plus I had a 2 - dollar off coupons plus a buy 2 Kitten Chow, Get a free Cat! The kids have been bothering me for the Reese's Eggs so we picked up two of them. I don't know what it is about those things but they love them! Total OOP: $10.44 (total was $20.44 - used $10 Gift Certificate) - saved $36.86
**Will get back $10.99 back in rebates - $.55 profit!

Caribou Coffee: Free 12oz Decaf Coffee January 30, 2009

Snow Much Fun!!

We've been pretty busy around here playing in the snow and trying to dig out of the snow. We finally made our way out this morning (plus the oldest had school today). I'm surprised how not-so-clean our street is compared to the others. If only a snow plow would come down it. I wanted to share a few of our pictures.

This was Tuesday (27th) at about 8:30 pm.

This was taken yesterday afternoon when the snow finally stopped (a little after 12:00 pm). There was even some sun...

Here are the boys digging for ice chunks.

Wanna go for a bike ride? He did. I wouldn't let them pull the four wheelers out so he dug his bike out and took it for a ride.

The kids had fun coloring the snow. I can only imagine what the neighbors think of our tie dyed lawn.

Things I Love Thursday - A Clear Face

Who doesn't like a clear face? I've always had the monthly breakouts on my face. Nothing major just annoying. I was using ProActiv for years which worked but it got to be expensive. When hard times hit, I had to find a way of keep a clear face without spending my last dollar to do it. That's when I found Acne Free. Do you use it? If so, tell me what you think about it.

WOW! That's about all I could say about it. I wish I would have tried it sooner. My breakouts clear up a lot quicker than they did with ProActiv. I've also noticed that I haven't had as many. It doesn't bleach my towels (like ProActiv did). It's amazing stuff! If I notice a breakout coming, I put a little Repair Lotion on the spot and 9 out of 10 times so far it's went away without causing "damage" or causing me to freak out. Trust me - if it didn't work, I'd tell ya. It's also a lot cheaper.

Weigh In Wednesday - 1/27/09

Wow - I think I'm headed in the wrong direction with this weight loss thing. I am reporting a 1.2 lbs gain this week. I did weigh later than normal and I was dressed. I usually get up early and shower before getting on the scale but we slept in this morning and I forgot about weighing in.

If I had to rate on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) for my effort this past week, it would be a 3. I consumed a few things that I probably shouldn't have and I really didn't workout. I took some time this afternoon to rearrange the family room so I can get to the treadmill again. Once the snow clears (hear there's more on the way), we will move it to the workout area in the detached garage. I will then be able to workout in peace and with all the room that I want.

I did post what I did do as far as workouts. The most was probably Wednesday & Thursday when I spent a couple hours on the Wii Fit. I really need to get back to the elliptical, treadmill and strength training.

My plans for this week are to: walking/jog on the treadmill 4x this week, Wii Fit for at least 30 minutes everyday, strength training 4x this week, and eat better (this is my main problem this past week).

How are you doing on your weight loss/fitness goals? Did you make a resolution/goal for 2009 to lose weight? What are you doing to lose the weight?

Goal 12/31/09 56.2
2009 Weight Loss-to-date -2.2

Works For Me: Amazing Monkey Hooks

I've been meaning to post this for a couple weeks now. After I updated the family room and touched up a few of the other rooms in the house, I wanted to hang a couple pictures and other wall decor. The last thing I want is to have to fill in a bunch of big holes (the people before us used screws to hang things), if we decide to redecorate again (hopefully we will move before that happens).

When I decorated my older son's room years ago, I had the same issue - holes galore. So, I found The Amazing Monkey Hooks. They have a thin gauge that's inserted into the wall (no stud or tools needed) and makes a single small hole. Gone with the big holes!! They hold up to 50 pounds as well. The other thing I like about them is you can't see them over the top of the picture frame. They are reasonably priced and you can find them at stores like Lowe's and WalMart.

This is what works for me. To see what works for others, visit Rocks In My Dryer’s Works for Me Wednesday. You might find something that will work for you too!

Menu Plan Monday - 1/26/09

I'm pretty excited that we ate from our menu every night except 2. First, I did plan 7 days but should have only done 6 (that was my fault). The other was we ate lunch so late that none of us were hungry for dinner.

My fiance is out of town for half the week so I'll be taking it easy in the kitchen for a few days. It will also give me time to work on our Super Bowl menu.

Here's my menu plan:

1. Lemon Pepper Grilled Chicken, Angel hair pasta with creamy herb sauce, steamed broccoli -- very good!!

2. Little Caesar's pizza -- ugh!

3. Taco bar -- went over well, froze leftover meat to use next week

4. Slow cooked pot roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, salad, corn

5. Upside-Down Pizza

6. Cheeseburgers, potato chips -- yum!

Sunday will be devoted to mostly appetizers (and probably chili) since our favorite NFL team, Pittsburgh Steelers, will be playing in the Super Bowl. I'll be back later this week to share our menu and recipes.
