Weigh In - Week ending 8/23/09

This week was no surprise at Weight Watchers. I maintained this week. I didn’t get on my scale Wednesday or really any other day so I didn’t know what to expect. I was thinking it would be a gain since we spent 2 ½ days at the county fair. While I did guzzle quite a bit of water, my eating wasn’t as good. We walked past a food booth to get to the camper each day after the show and there was three times (yep 3) that I stopped at it. It was anything healthy even though I could try to come up with a reason for it to be healthy (maybe that it was light- in weight). I got the best dessert (for dinner) – Frozen Key Lime Strawberry Pie!! Yumilious! Doesn’t it sound like it would be a nice refreshing treat on a 90 degree day when you’ve been dealing with pigs, heat and kids at the county fair?

Along with that treat, I didn’t get a lot of exercise in last week. I got a lot of walking in over the 2 ½ days we were at the fair but after that I think it was in recovery mode. I didn’t run all week. I walked 1 night during my son’s football practice but that’s where it ended. I didn’t do anything else. I have a plan for this week though.

That's all I have this week.

How are you doing on your weight loss?

Menu Plan Monday - 8/24/2009

The last two weeks have been very busy; therefore, I didn’t menu plan. I did have an idea of what we would have for dinner or at least what was available. It didn’t work for us the first week since it was the week of the fair and we were here there and everywhere but last week it did.

This week should be pretty normal with the exception of the kids starting back to school. It really doesn’t affect our menu except I will now have to go back to packing a lunch for my oldest son. He packs the same things over and over so I won’t put his lunch on my menu plan.

This week I’m planning my breakfast and lunches for the work week as well as our dinners. A couple weeks ago, I wrote about changing my eating schedule to every 2-3 hours and making sure I eat breakfast rather than just drink it (my Iced Cappucino addiction). This worked – my hunger levels were balanced. I’m no longer starved when I walk in the door from work.

Breakfast

1. Special K Blueberry cereal, Fat Free/Skim Milk, ½ cup Blueberries

2. Egg white omelet w/mushrooms, peppers and onions, ¾ cup strawberries
3. Weight Watcher Baked Apple ‘n Cinnamon Snack Bar, banana, Fiber One Yogurt (2x)

4. Cinnamon Raisin Bagel with Brown Sugar Cinnamon Cream Cheese and Better ‘n Butter.

Lunch (includes my afternoon snack) – no lunch plan for Tuesday since I will be leaving work early.

1. Garden salad w/Light Honey Mustard, 2 Fat Free Hot dogs, 1 ½ cup Strawberries, Fiber One Key Lime Pie Yogurt, Sugar Free Fat Free Dark Chocolate Pudding

2. Turkey Sandwich, 1 ½ cup strawberries, 1 cup grapes, Fiber One Strawberry yogurt, Sugar Free Fat Free Dark Chocolate Pudding

3. Panera Bread (being taken to lunch) – Black Bean Soup and Strawberry Poppyseed Salad
4. Turkey Sandwich, Soup, 1 ½ cups strawberries, Fiber One Key Lime Pie Yogurt, Sugar Free Fat Free Dark Chocolate Pudding

Dinner

1. BBQ Shredded Pork, Mashed Potatoes, Baked Beans
2. Homemade Pizza
3. Crockpot Chicken Parmesean

4. Meatloaf, egg noodles, sweet corn

5. Cabbage Rolls

6. Turkey Stuffed Peppers

Weigh In - Week ending 8/15/09

With the crazy week that I had, I did not weigh myself on Wednesday morning. I’m thinking about cutting that weigh in out completely and only track my Weight Watcher’s weight loss. This week I weighed in down 1.4 pounds. I was able to make it to Weight Watchers on Friday for their open weigh hours.

During my visit to the Weight Watcher center, I spent a few minutes talking to the receptionist. It all started with her asking, “How are you doing this morning?” My reply was, “Let me get back to you after I weigh.” We talked about my weight loss and what I had been doing to lose weight. She was impressed that I could drop nearly 35 pounds without putting forth a lot of effort in the exercise department. She said I would be doing a lot better if I could exercise and that it could get me to ‘goal’ quicker. That was another question I had…when do I get to set my goal? I thought maybe I was getting close to being able to discuss my goal. As a matter of fact, I am getting close – in the next 12-15 pounds. Hard to believe!

Over the past week the only exercise I did was walking/jogging during my son’s football practices. If I didn’t have to be at the practices, I probably wouldn’t have even done that much. I did try to workout with an exercise video one night but I got bored and turned it off. I seem to lose interest pretty quick in doing the workout videos.

I did try to get a grip on my afternoon snacking issues and always being hungry when I arrive home from work. Eating every 2-3 hours seemed to keep my hunger levels balanced. I wasn’t hungry and eating whatever I could get my hands on when I arrived home from work. I would grab a snack bag of my pretzel thins and I’d be satisfied until dinner (which on most nights is after 8:00pm).

I think that’s all I have for this week. Anyone have anything they’d like to add? Did you try something new this week? Did you have a big weight loss this week? Are you struggling?

Weigh In - Week ending 8/8/09

Last week I weighed in on my scale down 1.0 pound. At Weight Watchers, I was down 0.2 pound. I didn’t lose the whole 1.2 pounds that I had gained the week before. I didn’t hit my August 8th goal of 40 pounds either. So, I’ve decided to keep the 40 pound goal but remove the date part of it. I will be honest that this new job has really added a lot of stress. As I mentioned early on in my weight loss journey, I am an emotional eater. With that being said, you can probably imagine what I’ve been doing over the past week.

With the end/beginning of the month at work, I normally do not get a scheduled lunch hour. I have to eat while I work. I’m not used to that and it has become more of an all day eat fest. I didn’t really do too bad since I had a lot of healthy low point items with me. However, I didn’t get to take my lunch hour walk. I did walk/run a couple nights at my son’s football practices. It was rough since the track around the football field is gravel. There were two nights that I did my strength training – upper body one night and lower body the other. Other than that, I didn’t do much.

This weekend, my fiance’ and I took a little trip to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. I would have never thought a little trip could play such a big roll in my motivation to lose weight. On Saturday night, we had plans to eat at Montgomery Inn Boathouse then go enjoy the city nightlife. I already new that neither of those would get in my way as far as my weight loss (it would be the made to order breakfast omelets). It was stepping out of the shower in front of a huge mirror that made me realize that I have come a long way in my weight loss journey but I have a LOT more to go. There’s only one full length mirror in our house and it’s not in our bathroom (and in a way, it’s a good thing). I was very disappointed in what I saw but it helped me to stay focused during the evening and even at breakfast the next morning. Yep, I had an omelet. If that’s what you want to call it. It had a ton of veggies (even spinach), no cheese and very little egg cooked in a pan with very little oil. Thank goodness the cook was a lady and understood where I was coming from when I ordered it. I didn’t even walk out to check out the rest of the items and turned the bacon, sausage and potatoes down that the cook offered to load up on my plate.

Now I’m back and ready to get closer to my goal this week (even with that monthly calling). So, I’ve decided to change things up a bit. I will do my strength training in the morning and my cardio at night. I will run/walk at my son’s football practice. I’m also going to go with eating every 2-3 hours while I am at work. I’m usually starved by the time I get home so I’m going to spread my points/eating out a little bit more to try to eliminate it. I will not be able to weigh in on Saturday morning since the pig shows start at 9:00 am. I’ll have to find a time to go to Weight Watchers during the week or wait until the following Saturday. (I like to weigh in at the same time or nearly the same time as I do on Saturday mornings so if I can’t find another center or a time on Friday morning I’ll have to hold off until the following week.)

Hopefully you haven’t lost speed and motivation in your weight loss journey as I have over the past couple of weeks. I’m getting back on track and going to get the rest of these unwanted pounds off. Anyone want them because their coming off and someone’s got to take them?

Menu Plan Monday - 8/3/09

Well, our week started out following the menu then my fiance' got called to work out of town. My kids are very picky so I made them some of their favorites while my fiance' was gone. Since I had a pot roast in the crockpot the day that my fiance' left, I had that two nights and a big salad the other night. We did get around to having the Jamaican Rubbed Pork Chops and Bourbon Chicken and rice. They were both really good.

This week I'm going to try something different. I'm going to plan for my 5 dinner nights even though my fiance' is headed back out of town tomorrow and doesn't know how soon he will return. I'm also going to plan out my breakfast and lunch. I've really been slacking in the breakfast category lately so I've decided to plan it out to see if that helps.

Breakfast
1. 3 Egg Whites omelet w/mushrooms, green peppers, red peppers, onions and hot sauce, 1 cup grapes
2. Thomas High Fiber English Muffin w/Weight Watcher cream cheese and All Fruit Strawberry spread
3. Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal with a 1/4 cup of unsweetened chunky applesauce mixed in
4. Kellogg's Blueberry cereal w/fat free milk, 1 cup blueberries
5. 3 Egg Whites omelet (hot sauce only) on a Arnold's Sandwich Thin with 1/2 a Weight Watcher Cream Cheese

Lunch
1. Grilled Chicken Salad w/light honey mustard dressing
2. Santa Fe Style Chicken soup, Turkey sandwich on Arnold's Sandwich Thin
3. 2 Fat Free Ballpark franks with Arnold's Sandwich Thin, Applesauce, veggie salad
4. Progresso Soup, toasted cheese sandwich
5.
3 Egg Whites omelet (hot sauce only) on a Arnold's Sandwich Thin with 1/2 a Weight Watcher Cream Cheese (Breakfast is always good for lunch), 3/4 cup of strawberries and 1/2 cup of blueberries, Fiber One Yogurt

Dinner (Mine listed on side except for last two when my fiance' returns)
1. Hot Dogs,
Homemade Mac & Cheese (Fat free hot dog, salad)
2. Hamburgers, Corn, leftover Homemade Mac & Cheese (Turkey burger, broccoli)
3. Spaghetti (Grilled Chicken Parmesan)
4. Homemade Pizza
5.
Orange Teriyaki Chicken

Last night we had a great dinner. My fiance' cooks on Sunday so it's never planned because he decided at the last minute. We had: grilled tilapia, baked "fried" green tomatoes, corn on the cob. I made a hot corn mixture. I caramelized diced onions and jalapenos then shucked three ears of corn and mixed it together. I also made an onion relish for the tomatoes. Diner was FANTASTIC!! My family ate the leftovers when they brought my son home...they loved it too.

To see more menu plans, visit The Happy Homemaker where Menu Plan Monday is being hosted this week.

Weigh In - Week ending 8/1/09

Again, I am late posting my weigh in for this week. On my scale, I weighed in up 1.0 pounds. At Weight Watchers on Saturday, I was up 1.2 pounds. Shocking? No. I was a real slacker this week. Now I'm 5.0 pounds away from my goal of getting to 38.2 pounds on August 8. However, I'm working my hardest this week to get as close to it as I can. (Yes, sweat will be involved.)

I didn't workout this week, for the most part anyways. It was a busy week for me. I didn't walk on my lunch hours instead I was working on projects at work (busy time of the month). Then my oldest son's football practices started. The practices start at 6pm which isn't long after I get home and we have to drive 10-15 minutes up the road. The first couple days, I sat there and watched. By Wednesday, I was making good use of my time. I jogged/walked the cross country path. I had to walk more than I wanted because the path goes back in the Land Lab and my younger son was with me (he loves dirt and nature). My plan for this week is to jog that same route and run the track around the football field as long as the track/field isn't being used.

My food choices really haven't been a problem. The only problem with my food choices is my morning coffee. I haven't been able to kick that habit but I've been working on it. One thing I am going to try this week (I started this on Thursday) is to plan my breakfast, lunch and dinner. It helps me to determine my points for the day before heading out the door. My points went down one last week (which I complete forgot about). One point really does make a difference for me. So, instead of just having the healthy choices on hand, I'm going to make a plan for eating them.

How’s your weight loss coming along? Do you plan out all of your meals or just make sure you have healthy choices on hand?
