The post office will get an extra 2 cents when you mail a letter starting May 11, 2009. The price of the first-class stamp will go up to $.44.
If you are planning on a mass mailing like wedding invitations or you use a lot of stamps, I would stock up on the Forever Stamps. They will continue to sell at the current 42-cent rate until the increase occurs. They will remain valid in the future regardless of rate hikes.

I hate when stamp prices rise! lol I suppose it doesn't matter when I'm awful at sending letters anyway.
