Back to the Dentist AGAIN!

Well, I'm off to the dentist again this morning. I have the last of my dental work...my crown being put on my tooth. It's the tooth that I had the root canal done on that caused me lots of problems (couldn't eat on that side of my mouth for over a week). They had the appointment down for a prep only. After a few minutes of back and forth on hold, I was able to get in to have the prep and crown done. My fight - I only have dental insurance until March 31st! Unless of course I pay the COBRA premium but I was told 2 weeks ago this would be my final visit until time for my cleaning.

I will be back this afternoon with my Wednesday posts and some weekly posts that aren't up yet. I have to work on a volunteer project that needs to be completed by Friday as well. Can I squeeze all that into my afternoon? We'll see.

Saving on My Prescriptions

A few weeks back I had told you that I saved on my prescriptions. I didn't have my vicodin prescription filled because I had keep the one from August when I had one of my wisdom teeth pulled. When I had the one pulled a few weeks back, I used my old but still good prescription. Last week when I had my root canal done, I didn't have the vicodin prescription filled because I still had pills left. I did have to have my Motrin 600mg filled. Since I'm unemployed and don't have health/prescription insurance coverage, I started calling around checking prices. I had the transfer coupon for Walgreens so I called there. It was $11.99 to fill my prescription but the FREE gift card was only for transferred prescriptions. I didn't have any other prescription coupons. So I headed to Meijer...

Did you know that Meijer accepts competitor prescription coupons? They sure do; however, they don't give you the face value of your coupon. They give you $10 off coupon for your next prescription and $10 off your next shopping trip. I probably won't use the $10 off prescription coupon since I rarely have prescription filled and it expires on 4/9/09. If I did, they would give me another $10 off prescription coupon when I had my next prescription filled. In all, you get a $10 off shopping trip and 2 - $10 off prescription coupon (only get the second one if you use the first). Meijer was $5 cheaper on the prescription as well. I paid $6.99 out of pocket and got those coupons. So, I actually "made" money - $3.01! Don't forget that Meijer has several free antibiotics too.

Speaking of prescription coupons:

There was one prescription coupon in yesterday's paper. It's for Target. FREE $10 gift card with any new or transferred prescription purchase. Expires 3/23/09.

The prescription coupon for Walgreens is still valid. It's for a $25 gift card on a transferred (only) prescription. It expires on 4/26/09.

Another Visit to the Dentist

Another not so exciting day! Just a few weeks ago, I went to the dentist to have a wisdom tooth pulled and another tooth filled. Well, it was back to the dentist again today. I had to have a root canal done on my molar today. Not only that but I had roots pulled from another wisdom tooth that was pulled many years ago. I can take a lot of pain but today just wasn't one of those days. After the novocaine wore off, I was in quite a bit of pain for awhile.

Now I will be making another trip to the dentist in a few weeks. They want to give my mouth/tooth a few weeks to rest. I will be going in to have a crown put on my tooth that had the root canal done. I've only got until the end of the month to get it done since I'm working on the three months of COBRA paid by my previous employer. I'm hoping that the crown doesn't break the bank. I should have the estimate by the end of next week so we'll see.

With all that being said, I will be back at some point tomorrow to catch up some more. I was able to get a few of my posts typed up before heading off to relax.

Another one gone...

Another exciting day! Not really! Remember the crown I lost last month? If not, you can read about it here. Well, I'm having that tooth pulled today (in the A.M.). Since I need a tooth filled on that same side of my mouth, they will be doing that as well. You know what that means? One cranky momma! I could have had the crown fixed but they would have had to prep the old tooth and create a new crown - too much money for me! Especially after paying top dollars for the the first one. It's my wisdom tooth anyways. I'm not sure why it wasn't pulled in the first place. This will all be done by my regular dentist, not the crazy old guy from last time.

Since I am working on three months of COBRA paid by my previous employer, I need to get as much (actually all) my dental work done by the end of March. (COBRA is too expensive for me to carry so I'll only have 3 months of coverage.) I have a molar that either needs to be pulled or have a root canal done and that will complete all my dental work. It will depend on the cost. I believe a root canal will be just under $175 OOP so I will probably go for it.

Guess What I Lost Last Night?

My crown... Does anyone have any super glue? Without insurance and income, I think it's the cheapest route to go to have it fixed. I'll have to make some calls today and see what kind of prices I can come up with for having it fixed, I guess.

It's official!

It's official - I joined the ranks of the unemployed today. Am I proud of it? NO! I really enjoyed working and helping others. I liked what I did and loved the money! Don't get me wrong there were things that I didn't like about the job (or was it a particular person?). I've actually came a long way over the past 4 1/2 months.

In the past 4 1/2 months, I've been able to update the family room, remove lots of clutter from the house (more work to be done), and get rid of telemarketers by telling them I don't have a job and nothing to offer them. I do not have to wake up at 4:00 AM 5 days a week! I've also been able to spend more time with my kids and attend school functions during the school day. It's saved me a TON on child care too (I'll get back to this in another post).

My goal is to be back to work as soon as possible. I like being home with the kids but it's not for me. I'm a working mom - not a stay at home mom. I've been applying for jobs as they become available. I'm also considering going back to school but not sure in what field yet. I really like working on computers but I don't really want to spend my days sitting in a chair. Another field I am considering is nursing. I'm not sure that I can handle some of the tasks involved. So, it takes me to medical assisting or medical coding, billing & transcription (something I can do from home). However, I've had two friends complete these programs and couldn't find employment. UGH!

A LONG Weekend....

Have you ever been so sick that you think that you just want to cry like a baby? Well, that was me this past weekend. It hit hard and quick. I was typing and scheduling blog posts on Saturday morning, talking to my sister via email, and enjoying a nice iced coffee when all of a sudden it hit - like a rock! I was very frigid and my stomach hurt. I did get caught up on my sleep though...I slept all day on Saturday and most of the day Sunday. I left the house yesterday to get my "extra" newspapers and an iced coffee.

Yesterday, the youngest one was sick...nothing like I had though. This morning the oldest one woke up sick...sicker than the younger one was. Now to see if my fiance gets it...he'll be heading out of town tomorrow so hopefully he can escape before it hits him. It's supposed to go up to 50 degrees tomorrow so I'm going to crack some windows and hopefully clear out this place. I've been Lysol to clean and wipe everything but I'll feel better once the air is circulated and hopefully the bad air escapes.

I've got some posts that I was working on Saturday that I hope to get up today and then a few from yesterday like Rite Aid and Toys R Us. Please bear with me...

General Mill's Pssst Product Testing - Join Today

Have you joined General Mill's "Pssst" Product testing that I mentioned here? Recently I was given the opportunity to try the Pillsbury Flaky Twists with chocolate icing and Pillsbury Thin Pizza Crust. I even received extra coupons to pass out to family and friends which I did...I didn't keep them for myself!

We tried the Pillsbury Flaky Twists first. They come 8 to a package and cook for about 12-15 minutes. Very easy to make. Smelled yummy too. These went over very well in our house. Let's just say there weren't any left and I only got one! My kids are big donut fans...this was there "donut". Needless to say, these have made my grocery sale lists...when on sale, purchase!

"Good Time!"

For those that know me, know that I love to dance. No, I'm not a square dancing nut. I just like to dance. That's actually how I met my fiance. The girls and I used to go out dancing on Friday and/or Saturday nights. My fiance and I have been a few times since but not as much since son#2 was born. Hopefully we'll get back to it. Otherwise, I might just do this dance around the house...with the kids (they love this song).
