McDonald's is at it again! They are having “Refreshment Recess” every Monday-Friday from 2:00 pm -5:00 pm where you can any 2 drinks for the price of 1! Buy one, get the next one of equal or lesser value free. You get to mix & match your drinks!! The deal applies to soft drinks, bottled water, McCafe drinks and more. Participation may vary.

This is another promotion from McDonald's that isn't going on in my area (we stopped after our visit to the local inflatable jump arena).

February Challenge: Save Change

I'm a couple days late with my February Challenge. When I started this blog, I joined in on a save change challenge. For one month, save all your pennies, nickels, and dimes (I save quarters too). At the end of the month, you will make a purchase with the change. The purchase should be something that's going to save you money by lowering your electric, water or heating bill.

For those that don't already know, I'm a change saver most of the time. I make all my purchases with cash and usually don't dig to the bottom of my purse for change. When I do, it's usually to empty out the loads of change. My goal is to save enough to purchase a water heater blanket (would like a tankless water heater - maybe when we buy a new home), Energy Smart light bulbs and/or new shower head (the ones that use less water).

We've actually done a lot to the house to make it more energy efficient: ceiling fans in all rooms, programmable thermostat, newer windows, dimmer switches on several light switches, and power strips being used (shut off when not in use or gone for long periods of time).

Menu Plan Monday 2/2/09

I'm pretty excited that we ate from our menu every night! I thought with my fiance out of town most of the week we would end up having dinner out when he returned. Instead, we ate in every night! It was great.

This week's menu is going to be very simple since I need to clean out two freezers in the garage to see what meat we have. We are supposed to pick up our half beef this weekend or next (I don't remember). I was going to skip meal planning all together but I thought that would turn into a disaster around here (free for all every night)!

Here's my menu plan:

1. Cheesy Chili Enchiladas

2. Fettuccine Alfredo

3. Grilled Chicken, angel hair pasta, broccoli

4. Cheeseburgers, potato chips

5. Breaded Butterflied Shrimp, mashed potatoes, corn

I'm only planning on 5 days this week since we had a free for all last night and Friday night will be carry-out or dinner out since I head to Cincy and don't get back until late.

McDonald's: Free Coffee @ Participating Locations

The Thrifty Mama posted today that you could get a Free Medium premium roast coffee or vanilla, hazelnut or regular iced coffee between 5:00 am - 8:00 am all month in February. Valid only at participating locations (I believe it's McCafe locations only) so I would call before heading out. Only one item per person per visit. Offer good February 1 - 28, 2009.
